Farmers find it difficult to undertake sustainable agriculture due to lack of training. Out of ignorance, they use ancient cultural practices that impoverish soils and furthers erosion

The projects of the John Paul II Foundation for the Sahel are reversing these trends by initiating and training the Sahelians in:

• - new farming techniques that consider soil as a living being that can be maintained using organic manure,
• - land management techniques that help to fight wind and water erosion,
• - the construction of dikes, dikelets, stone belts…
